Sysdig disclosed JadePuffer ransomware in early July 2026. It's the first documented agentic threat actor – an AI agent that executed the full ransomware lifecycle without a human operator.

CVE-2025-3248 is an unauthenticated remote code execution flaw in Langflow, an open-source AI application builder. JadePuffer exploited it autonomously. When the agent hit a failed login, it diagnosed the problem and deployed a working fix in 31 seconds.
Your incident response playbook assumes you have time. You don't.
The math that doesn't work
Most organizations measure mean time to detect (MTTD) in hours. Mean time to respond (MTTR) in more hours. Mean time to containment (MTTC) in even more hours, sometimes days.
JadePuffer's dwell time was 15 minutes.
Your EDR might detect the initial access. Your SIEM might fire an alert. But if your SOC takes 30 minutes to triage that alert, and another hour to investigate, and another hour to begin containment, the files are already encrypted before anyone opens the ticket.
The threat model changed in early July. The playbook didn't.
